Real Estate and Everything Else

Tired of Receiving Unsolicited Phone Calls?

I get phone calls all the time as a real estate agent. Right now most of those calls are unsolicited from businesses or individuals attempting to pitch me their product or service. With a few of the current IRS scam thrown in. It is frustratingly annoying. I will not do business with any of them, especially the IRS since I know they send communication in the mail.  I believe if you have to call, beg, pester, harass, to get my business what you offer must suck.

I can only imagine what it would be like if I was selling my home on my own without the assistance of a real estate agent or if I had had my home listed with an agent and it was no longer on the market (an expired listing). Those homeowners must get inundated with unsolicited telemarketing calls. I don’t even want to mention agents that track down recent divorce filings, bankruptcies,  or even worse troll the obituaries for their next lead.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

I hear stories every now and then about real estate agents calling and harassing homeowners. It makes local news, national news, sometimes even international news.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

Some real estate agents well even pay a companies to collect these phone numbers for them. Any smart company would check the numbers against the Do Not Call Registry and pass that information on. A fine from the FCC would not be enjoyable to pay, I’m just assuming.

Even with the Do Not Call Registry agents are still calling, begging, pestering, harassing, all in the name of finding their next deal. When agents are taught that every no is closer to a yes it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they sometimes they chose to ignore the Do Not Call Registry, all in the name of brining you “value”.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

If you are as tried with receiving calls from telemarketers as I am maybe their frequency will decrease if you take the following steps.

1. Tell the telemarketers to take you off their call lists.

2. Register your number with the FTC’s Do Not Call Registry.

3. Report unwanted telemarketing calls to the National Do Not Call Registry.

4. File a complaint with the FCC.

5. If a solicitation is from a telemarketer within your state, file a complaint with your state’s attorney general.

If you happen to be either a For Sale by Owner or an Expired Listing or will be soon I wish you luck. There are agents out there circling just waiting to start calling you non stop.

Ring.
