Park Review: Community Park, Orem, UT
A Park in Orem? I know what you are thinking, “Seth what happened to the three parks that you visit the most?” Relax you’ll get that last review! And to be honest It’s my blog I can do what I want. Just wait until I really branch out and talk about office supplies, 90s music, or the books that got me hooked on reading *spoiler* it was Harry Potter *spoiler*. Now on the the review!
While we have been waiting patiently for our new house to be built we have been living in Orem. It doesn’t make sense to drive to American Fork for a quick park visit before dinner we have been exploring. This is one of our new favorites.
Community Park is located at 581 W 165 S in Orem, UT. It is very close to the Orem Fitness Center, Mountain View High School, and Orem Elementary School. Events at those buildings could make parking or using certain features of the park a challenge. So plan accordingly.
This park has a lot to offer including multiple rentable pavilions with BBQ grills, ample trash cans, baseball/softball diamonds, tennis courts (some with lights), soccer field, batting changes (no pitching machines), 4 Pokestops, 1 Pokegym, tons of open space, lots of trees, parking and drinking fountains (I don’t know when they open/close them for the season).
This park also does have bathroom facilities. Which is a huge plus especially if you plan on spending a good amount of time at the park. This is a park that you could easily do that! It is always good to have toilet paper in your car anyway just in case. Just like the drinking fountains I don’t know when the open/close for the season.
Right now my kids love this park because it is close to where we are staying and because of the SWINGS! This is their current favorite thing to do at the park. We have been here on a busier day and still had no problem getting them on a swing. These are solid and can even hold adults with ease. The other playground equipment is pretty standard. While some parts of this park are shaded the play ground is not. I would avoid using it during the day especially during the summer. Hot equipment is not comfortable to kid’s skin.
Another awesome feature is the .49 mile walking/jogging trail. I haven’t used it yet but once I do I’ll report back. It seems to be realitvly flat and is partially shaded.
Make sure you add this park to your must visit list. If end up having a BBQ let me know I’ll bring a salad.
